Nine incredible nights exploring the best of vibrant Vietnam, with hotel stays, breakfast, transfers, a bay cruise and tours with an English-speaking guide

Vietnam is positively bursting with cultural delights – why limit yourself to just one? Rather than stick to a single city or side of this vibrant and multifaceted nation, opt for a sweeping nine-night tour, designed to acquaint you with the best this country has to offer. Aurora Travel's A Charming Vietnam itinerary begins in Hanoi and ends in Ho Chi Minh City, with stops at Ha Long Bay and Hoi An. The focuses of the program are just as varied, ranging from history to local cuisine, which you’ll learn about at a fruit-and-vegetable carving class and over one memorable lunch of fried spring rolls, soup and authentic chicken and beef dishes.

There’s something here for every traveler, whether the beach bummer, who will doubtless enjoy the chance to sunbathe on the sands of the Titov Island, or the city slicker, who will adore the cyclo tour around Hanoi’s Old Streets. When not based in one of three lovely hotels or sleeping aboard a cruise ship on the bay, you’ll also get the chance to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels and enchanting caves. With a spa journey also included, it’s going to be a busy week and a half – luckily, there’s nothing you have to do but go along for the ride.

Hilton Hanoi Opera (two nights)

TripAdvisor reviewers rave about Hilton Hanoi Opera, a magnificent landmark in Hanoi’s French Quarter. This property boasts an abundance of recent World Travel Award nominations, and not just because of its convenient proximity to the Old Quarters and Hoan Kiem Lake. You’ll be invited to dine on Vietnamese and international specialties and delicious baked goods at the five different dining venues; swim in the outdoor pool; sleep in a cozy room, inspired by local aesthetics and holding bathrobes and a large desk; and even hop in a Mercedes E250 for a stylish ride to the local sights.

Indochina Sails cruise (two nights)

See what helped this cruise provider win a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and an appearance in a German film series on dream hotels, while based in a Superior cabin on one of six newly built wooden junks. Indochina Sails was the first company to provide overnight Ha Long Bay cruises – a truly special experience, thanks to your spacious, modern stateroom and the large sundecks and dining rooms found aboard the vessel.

Sunrise Premium Resort Hoi An (three nights)

Sunrise Premium Resort Hoi An is a high-end hideaway, just 10 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage-protected Old Town of Hoi An. It’s got a luxe dining program that specializes in fresh seafood and the cuisine of Vietnam and greater Asia, plus an elegant café-bar; its Bliss Spa invites you to relax for a bit, and each of its accommodations shows off a clean, modern look. Gather around the pool table, get some exercise at the fitness center, or soak in one of the stunning resort pools.

New World Saigon Hotel (two nights)

A TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner, New World Saigon Hotel is a sleek, modern hotel that offers a convenient Ho Chi Minh City location, near Ben Thanh Market and opposite 23 September Park. You’ll find top-notch dining here, from Cantonese dishes at expert chef Alan Hew Wai Seng’s Dynasty, to coffee – with a side of music – at the Lounge, to seafood at Parkview and drinks at Splash Pool Bar. Homemade pastries, cakes and pralines are served at Saigon Bakery, as well, if you’re craving sweets. Each of the 533 rooms is elegantly appointed and features a marble bathroom and an LCD TV.
