A central city base in a Beaux-Arts building, a stone's throw from Times Square, Central Park and more

Slip into a heavenly trance at Dream Midtown, a stylishly surreal Manhattan escape. Beaux-Arts on the outside, Italian in the Serafina outpost and faintly English in The Rickey cocktail lounge, with no shortage of sculptural furnishings and metallic colors throughout, this property offers an eclectic hodgepodge of glamorous influences – and experiences. In fact, it’s right in the middle of its namesake neighborhood, meaning that shopping outings at Columbus Circle, walks in Central Park and nights at Broadway theaters are all within easy reach. And if you need some help telling your downtown from your up, or in landing tickets to the aforementioned shows, consults with an expert concierge are an elevator ride away.

Frankly, however, it’s people in the other parts of NYC that are making their way here. The larger hotel collection has become synonymous with a high-end, high-profile nightlife scene; this particular location was the collection’s first; and it recently opened a PHD Terrace – the city’s second, after the Condé Nast Traveler-recommended one in Chelsea – to an enthusiastic write-up from Women’s Wear Daily. Spend your evenings dancing to the beats of leading DJs at this rooftop bar, while sipping on a Blackberry Smash and taking in the city views, before retreating to your room and crashing on an allergen-free featherbed, dressed in the finest linens. Ah, life is but a dream, indeed.

We like

  • Dancing to DJs at the outpost of a Condé Nast Traveler favorite rooftop bar
  • Toasting a martini at the Serafina location or a Manhattan at the Rickey
  • Wandering down to Times Square or up to Central Park – both just blocks away
  • Appreciating the sleek, surreal interior design in the common areas and your room
