An award-winning luxury boutique eco-lodge in 400 acres of rainforest on the Caribbean, with breakfast

The Lodge & Spa at Pico Bonito is rolling in the accolades. This boutique eco-lodge in the Honduran rainforest merited a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award 2017 and the breathless praise of Condé Nast Traveller and The New York Times. Then there's National Geographic Traveler, which called it one of the world's top 50 eco-lodges, and Audubon, which anointed it a place "where dreams come true." Oh, and did we mention it's a Small Luxury Hotel of the World?

Wondering how this intimate retreat does it? That's easy. It's the perfect blend of Mother Nature and all-out luxury that has the press and previous guests singing hosannas. Each spacious cabin here has a veranda with its own hammock, where you can kick back and take in the scenery: 400 lush acres of tropical wilderness, dotted with waterfalls and home to two roaring rivers. And for a taste of paradise, One&Only Palmilla's former F&B director prepares heavenly local meals, like coconut-milk curry and seafood soup.

The Lodge’s most unique attribute is doing – or rather, using – what comes naturally. There are blue morphos in the on-site butterfly farm, rare West Indian manatees in the nearby refuge, lovely cotingas (among 423 avian species) in the 20 surrounding miles and pumas, tapirs and spider monkeys in the rest of the rainforest, and the hotel is committed to appreciating all of them. As long as these exotic creatures keep thriving, the hotel will keep leading birding, hiking and snorkeling tours. And as long as they keep multiplying, so will those awards.
